For immediate release: Industrial Planning Technology has been selected by the Office of Naval Research for a Small Business Innovation Research grant to develop software tools for automatic ship assembly planning and design detailing. The tools will automatically plan assemblies, determine joint locations in piping and seam locations in structure. This new innovative technology will use accurate models of shipbuilding fabrication processes so that optimal designs/plans can be generated for shop production. In addition to the construction cost savings, use of the Industrial Planning Technology software tools will enable a substantial reduction in planning man-hours.
