Industrial Planning Technology Selected by NAVSEA for Small Business Innovation Research Grant to develop STEP Tools-Titusville, Florida. For immediate release: NAVSEA has selected Industrial Planning Technology for the development of STEP translator software integrated with the popular ShipConstructor™ AutoCAD shipbuilding design software. STEP (ISO Standard 10303) is a set of international standards for the exchange of 3D product model data between CAD/CAE/CAM systems. STEP benefits ship owners by providing a reliable long-term archival format for ship product model data. In the design and building stages, the availability of STEP import and export capabilities facilitate sub-contracting and collaborative design and build strategies. STEP captures the rich data environment, (with all the product model attributes and relationships of piping and structure preserved) of the ShipConstructor™ software, enabling the shipbuilding community to build, analyze, modify, maintain and re-use data reliably. Industrial Planning Technology has been awarded a Small Business Innovative Research grant from the Department of the Navy, PEO Ships for work in this area. In addition to the construction cost savings, use of the Industrial Planning Technology software tools will enable a substantial reduction in planning man-hours. The technology is designed to be integrated into existing commercial CAD/CAM and planning systems. ShipConstructor™ software, is a product of ShipConstructor Software Inc., Victoria, British Columbia. For More Information Contact:
